Its been a long time I have written anything here. Meanwhile, I came across many more ICT tools that can enhance learning environment but two tools which got me really excited were Plickers and Nearpod. I am sure many of you who are reading this might know it already. But still I feel I must share this with you. I started using Plickers in 2015. The best thing about this tool is that it solves our problem of students bringing their own devices and yet we are using ICT. It is an assessment tool and can be used anywhere in the lesson - as starter, or in the middle part or as end of lesson assessment. You need to have few pre-requisites though - first create an account in www.plickers.com, create your questions and your students and assign the questions to your class. Next download plickers app from the app store/play store. Thirdly print and distribute the plicker cards to your students according to their roll numbers in your roster. Start the quiz (log in to your laptop - to the live view page of plickers.com) and the question will appear on the screen. Students will raise the card - the correct option to the top and teacher will scan their cards. You will get their answers and can give instant feedback. Well my explanation looks really long but believe me it is not as cumbersome as it seems. It works very well with all ages of students especially with primary and middle. If the instructions are given clearly and procedure explained properly, you can handle the slight indiscipline that is mainly due to the excitement of using Plickers. I will talk about Nearpod next time.
